3D Printed Bionic Hand


Open Bionics’ robot hand has won this years James Dyson design award, by developing a 3D printed prosthetic hand that provides amputees with a replacement limb for a fraction of the usual price.

Whilst most controllable hand prosthetics cost roughly 20-40 thousand pounds, the 3d printed device is provided for 2,000 pounds, including a fitting session.

Self-driving cars are pretty cool, but if your fully automated machine needs you to plug it in to the wall when you get home, well, the shine’s off the apple isn’t it.

Tesla Motors is currently prototyping the arm shown in the video above, that will automatically charge your car when it parks in your garage.

A Watch ‘On the Right Track’


Inspired by railway design, Yusuki Taguchi’s ‘On the Right Track’ watch is pretty striking.

It might also confused pundits of minimalist design, as it is simultaneously simple and wasteful.

Only the two central arms indicate the time on the watch face, whilst the rest are there just for show.

But it’s a nice show to watch nonetheless.
