Nikola Tesla demonstrated wireless illumination of a phosphorescent lamp in the 1891 and 1893, yet up until now we have been at the mercy of batteries and power outlets. Witricity a US based company will hopefully bring an end to all of this. No more batteries, no more waking up in the middle of the night to charge your phone and no more running out of juice on your iPod half way through a song.
Although still in the earlier prototype stages of development the technology looks more than promising. The video below is a bit cheesy and an Apple, white background knock off but it gets the message across.
